Portraits of Grace is a snapshot into the lives of the people at King’s Cross Church. As “kingdom minded, kingdom people,” we recognize God’s work in every detail of our lives. We invite you to meet the people of our church.

When we first found out we were pregnant, I didn’t believe it. I must have taken 5 pregnancy tests and we waited days before sharing the news with even the closest people in our lives. Charles and I had been trying to conceive for 2 years. By that time we had failed 6 cycles of intra-uterine insemination (IUI) and were planning on doing IVF the following month. As a Nurse Practitioner, with a Type A personality, I did everything I could that was in my power and medical knowledge to get pregnant. But during the one month when we decided to take a break from doing anything medically intensive, God showed me that He is the one who provides. If we had gotten pregnant by IUI or IVF, I know that I would have attributed it more to medicine or my own doing than God himself. Through this experience God taught me that nothing in this world is guaranteed except that He will be faithful and be with us in Christ, no matter what happens.

Now I am weeks away from the delivery of my baby girl and I am still learning to trust Him to provide. This is only the beginning of our journey with our little one, but I know that God, who entrusted us with this baby in my womb, will walk alongside us as we raise her up to be a child of God among His people. She is God’s miracle baby for us, and we truly believe she is a gift from God to us.
